"It's a Smile, It's a Kiss, It's a Sip of Wine ... It's Summertime!"

Here we are … it’s officially summer!  Already pushing the end of June … it’s been a hectic but good couple of weeks.

Ryan has been keeping us busy – he’s extremely vocal these days and has something to say about everything!  Mostly his input goes something like “DaDaDaDaDa!” but now and then he’ll add a “B”, “A” or there’s always the LOUD high pitched scream!  I'm waiting patiently for "MaMaMa!"
He’s a very busy boy – and is almost an expert at sitting up on his own.  He’s beyond ready to get moving … we’re hoping that is soon … though I know we will probably regret that wish!  :)

Here he is playing on the floor … yup, that’s a sock he’s playing with … and loads of toys stacked behind him!

He’s also very involved in what we’re doing – not always happy to entertain himself, we are often looking for ways to include him in our day-to-day things from a distance.

Here he is helping me make dinner … well, he’s mostly supervising:

Ryan likes to make sure he’s heard – if not with his voice, he’s banging toys together, waiting to see what kind of noise they will make next.
Here’s one of his favorite spots … there sure are a lot of things to do here – many of which are complete with music and lights!

Overall we have a very happy boy these days – and that’s despite his recent minor illnesses.  Where he’s picked up viruses I will never figure out, but he sure handles being sick like a champ!
Here’s my happy guy … hanging out on the couch:

Saturday the 9th was Ryan’s very first swim class!  It’s the parent-baby variety so both Scott and I got into the water with Ryan.  Being the easy-going guy he is, he took everything in very calmly and quickly relaxed and enjoyed himself!  Before we knew it, he was splashing the water with his hands and watching the other babies swim around too.  Since I’m an ex-swim teacher I just had to get Ryan under the water.  I always told myself I wouldn’t wimp out on this – it’s ok for the kids to get wet!  So about halfway through the class, I passed Ryan to Scott with an underwater “swoop!” … he was a bit surprised, but recovered quickly and was just fine!  I hope I have a “fish” on my hands … let’s see how the next class goes!

Here we are just getting in ...

And here we are getting used to the water with daddy ...

We've figured out the splashing!

Class has some fun activities!

The three of us at the end of class!  No tears here!

And the next weekend was Father’s Day!  We celebrated Scott’s first Father’s Day in a busy way, but it was very fun of course.  Ryan and I gave Scott some special gifts on Saturday night to start it off.  Ryan gave his daddy a card special for him and a “flip book” of pictures of just the 2 of them, from birth until now – complete with captions Ryan helped with.  I gave Scott a watch – I figured it a nice keepsake and he was also in great need of a new watch, so it was a “no brainer” as they say!

Father’s Day started off at Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Craig’s house for breakfast.  Ryan had a great visit with his Grandma and Grandpa and also his Auntie Di-Di and Uncle T-Bone!

Next, we were off to Grandma Cec and Grandpa John’s house for a BBQ lunch.  It was a great day for a BBQ – Ryan enjoyed his visit with Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Leslie, Uncle Sean, cousin Freida (who is a German Shepherd), and friends Kathy and Steve.
Here we are enjoying the afternoon outside:

Here's Ryan checking up on some favorite shows ... looks like he has the same fascination with the remote as his dad ... :)

What a busy couple of weeks … Ryan is almost 9 months old, we just can't believe it!

... On to the next adventure!
